Softball Recap: Freedom Area Sets Scoring Season-High Against Aliquippa

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freedom Area). They were the clear victors by a 29-11 margin over the Aliquippa Quips on Friday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Quips recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Freedom Area let Mackenzie Mohrbacher and Haydan Baucan run wild. Mohrbacher got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs, while Baucan went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave Baucan a new career-high in RBI (four). Juliana Giovengo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

Freedom Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Freedom Area's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Aliquippa, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Freedom Area will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Quips: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
