Basketball Recap: Northgate Comes Up Short

Northgate lost against Newnan back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Northgate Vikings took a 76-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newnan Cougars. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Newnan found their leader in sophomore Jaylin Brown, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Brown's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luke Maniaci, who went 6 for 9 en route to 14 points and five boards.

Northgate's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Newnan, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5.

Northgate is taking a road trip to take on Lovejoy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northgate is facing Lovejoy at the right time seeing as Lovejoy is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Newnan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dutchtown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dutchtown will roll in looking for their 21st straight win, something Newnan surely won't give up without a fight.
