Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Calhoun's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Calhoun hadn't done well against Griggsville-Perry recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Calhoun Warriors snuck past the Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes with a 49-43 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 41-32 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Griggsville-Perry lost, don't look at Garrett Woodward. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-9 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Woodward a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Fencik, who posted seven points and three blocks.

Calhoun is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Griggsville-Perry's loss dropped their record down to 13-18.

Calhoun has already played their next contest, a 56-39 defeat against Roxana on the 21st. As for Griggsville-Perry, they will challenge Edinburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Edinburg will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Griggsville-Perry surely won't give up without a fight.
