Baseball Recap: Belfry Drops Season-High Score on Magoffin County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belfry). They put the hurt on the Magoffin County Hornets with a sharp 20-5 win on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on four straight.

Kobe Puckett made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Belfry got a massive performance out of Isaiah Wolford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Wolford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryce Hagy, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Belfry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Belfry's record now sits at 17-7. As for Magoffin County, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-20.

Belfry wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Tug Valley on the 7th. As for Magoffin County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-0 defeat against Lawrence County on the 9th.
