Baseball Recap: Woodbridge Gets the Win

Woodbridge hadn't done well against Lake Forest recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Raiders walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Spartans. For the Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 12-1 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Ryan Scott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Woodbridge is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Daulton McCabe was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Evan Woodall, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Woodbridge and bumps their season record up to 8-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Lake Forest, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Coming up, Woodbridge will be playing at home against Seaford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Raiders' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Bluejays have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Lake Forest, they will welcome Woodbridge at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
