Softball Recap: River View Extends Winning Streak to Five

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River View). Everything went their way against the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions on Tuesday as River View made off with a 23-2 victory. The win was just business as usual for the Panthers, who after five games remain undefeated this season.

Kaydence Mathews made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Bree Stacy was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Stacy is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Courtney Morris, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

River View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .568 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

River View pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.3 runs over those games. As for Liberty Bell, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: River View beat Liberty Bell by a score of 17-1 later that day.
