Baseball Recap: North Smithfield Victorious

While North Smithfield's win against Hope wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Northmen had just enough and edged out the Blue Wave 8-7 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Northmen have posted against the Blue Wave since June 5, 2018.

Nick Tremblay was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has become a key player for North Smithfield: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Harris, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

North Smithfield's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Hope, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Coming up, North Smithfield will square off against Blackstone Valley Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The PRIDE's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Northmen's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Hope has already played their next game (against Paul Cuffee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
