Softball Preview: Curwensville Golden Tide vs. Juniata Valley Hornets

Curwensville is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Juniata Valley Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Juniata Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Curwensville, who comes in off a win.

While Golden Tide fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They blew past Brockway 9-1 on Tuesday.

Addison Siple was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Kylah Wos was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Sydney Simcox was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

Curwensville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brockway only posted a batting average of .125.

Meanwhile, Juniata Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 5-1 to Mifflin County on Thursday.

Curwensville couldn't quite get it done against Juniata Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can Curwensville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
