Basketball Recap: Leila Eastmead Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat John Milledge Academy

Edmund Burke Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the John Milledge Academy Trojans 64-62. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 58-37 victory the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edmund Burke Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leila Eastmead, who posted 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Eastmead has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 28 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Mcnair, who put up 18 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

John Milledge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Edmund Burke Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-51 win against Piedmont Academy on the 20th. As for John Milledge Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 46-42 victory against Briarwood Academy on the 20th.
