Football Recap: Poplarville Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Poplarville dropped to 3-3 on Friday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 35-34 to the McComb Tigers. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Hornets couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Poplarville still got an impressive performance from Tylan Keys, who rushed for 285 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Keys' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 130 rushing yards dating back to last season.

As for McComb, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.6 points on average over those games.

McComb found their leader in sophomore Tramarion Davis, who threw for 270 yards and five touchdowns. Broderick Peters was in the mix as well, providing the Tigers with two scores.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Poplarville is set to take on their familiar foe South Pike at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. Meanwhile, McComb will face off against rival Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 12.7, the Wildcats 11.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
