Basketball Recap: Brayden Husband Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Victory Christian

There's no place like home for Curtis Baptist, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Victory Christian Vikings on Monday, sneaking past 41-39. The win was some much needed relief for the Crusaders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Curtis Baptist's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden Husband, who posted 14 points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks. The Crusaders are undefeated when Husband posts five or more blocks, but 2-5 otherwise. Braxton Stallings also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Victory Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cole Straughn, who went 6-for-15 en route to 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Straughn is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Blake Straughn, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

The victory got Curtis Baptist back to even at 5-5. As for Victory Christian, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Curtis Baptist won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wardlaw Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Victory Christian, they will face off against Step of Faith Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
