Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Sand Creek

Sand Creek won the last time they faced Pueblo South, and Mathew Starks did his part to make sure it happened again. The Sand Creek Scorpions snuck past the Pueblo South Colts with a 44-40 win on Saturday thanks in part to Starks, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points along with seven boards and three steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Despite the loss, Pueblo South saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landen Frison posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Flowers, who put up six points.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Pueblo South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Sand Creek will challenge Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pueblo South, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 36-29 win against Village on the 12th.
