Softball Recap: Southwestern Takes a Loss

Southwestern was the 16-6 winner over Estill County when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors lost 8-1 to the Engineers on Friday.

Southwestern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Carroll, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Carroll has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Estill County, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Southwestern will square off against Lincoln County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Estill County, they will take on Bryan Station at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Defenders' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Engineers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
