Basketball Game Preview: Riverton Wolverines vs. Star Valley Braves

Riverton and Star Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but not for long. The Riverton Wolverines will welcome the Star Valley Braves at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Riverton is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Riverton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Jackson Hole.

Despite the defeat, Riverton got top-tier performance from Malachi Smith, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. The game was Smith's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Cox, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 14 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Star Valley faced Evanston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Star Valley slipped by Evanston 53-52.

Star Valley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points over those games. Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 5-15.
