Recap: Crean Lutheran Saints vs. St. Mary's Knights
If the Crean Lutheran Saints were feeling good off their 73-50 takedown of the Pacifica Mariners last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Crean Lutheran was outmatched by St. Mary on the road and fell 93-58. While losing is never fun, Crean Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 136th in California, while St. Mary's is ranked eighth in Arizona).
Despite the defeat, Crean Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: Kaiden Bailey scored 22 points. Bailey hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Troy Jenkins was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Crean Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for St. Mary's, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.
Crean Lutheran will head out on the road to challenge Valencia at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Valencia is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. St. Mary's will take on Seton Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Seton Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
