Volleyball Recap: Wharton Wildcats vs. Wiregrass Ranch Bulls
Wharton and Wiregrass Ranch squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Wharton had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulls. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulls from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14.
Amia Kennerdy paced Wharton's offense, picking up 12 kills. Kennerdy got some help from Lauren Galfond and her 15 assists. Makiah Bryant controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Wiregrass Ranch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luiza Valladares, who had seven aces and four digs. What's more, Valladares posted two assists, the most she's had since back in August of 2024. Tanner Henderson was another key player, getting 17 digs and two assists.
Wharton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Wiregrass Ranch, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5.
Wharton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they will face off against Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
