Baseball Recap: Douglass' Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Douglass entered their tilt with Fairmont Heights on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Hornets 10-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Arrington Price, III made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases.

In other batting news, Brenden Cribbs was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Makhye McKnight was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Douglass' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fairmont Heights, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Douglass beat the Hornets by a score of 7-3 later that day.
