Basketball Game Preview: Port Huron Northern Huskies vs. Sterling Heights Stevenson Titans

The Port Huron Northern Huskies are taking a road trip to challenge the Sterling Heights Stevenson Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Port Huron Northern has three straight victories, Sterling Heights Stevenson has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Port Huron Northern was able to grind out a solid win over Marysville, taking the game 46-33. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Vikings are ranked 400th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sterling Heights Stevenson came up short against Chippewa Valley on Tuesday, falling 62-37.

Port Huron Northern is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Sterling Heights Stevenson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Huron Northern since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
