Basketball Recap: Taylor Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cedar over Crimson Cliffs

Cedar lost against Crimson Cliffs back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cedar Reds lost to the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs on the road by a 63-48 margin. While losing is never fun, the Reds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 25th).

Cedar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Taylor Davis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Davis has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Greene, who posted ten points and seven boards.

Crimson Cliffs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Eaton led the charge by going 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Murdock, who scored 12 points and six rebounds.

Cedar has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. As for Crimson Cliffs, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Cedar didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-49 loss against Snow Canyon on the 31st. As for Crimson Cliffs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-61 win against Desert Hills on the 31st.
