Preview: Stony Point Tigers vs. Manor Mustangs
Stony Point has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Manor Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Stony Point scored first but ultimately less than McNeil in their contest on Friday. They took a serious blow against the Mavericks, falling 52-21. Stony Point was down 45-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Manor came up short against Round Rock Westwood last Thursday and fell 28-21. While losing is never fun, Manor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Round Rock Westwood is ranked 154th).
The losing side was boosted by Titus Petteway, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Petteway was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards.
Stony Point now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Manor, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Stony Point was taken down by Manor 45-10 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Stony Point, Quinten Joyner (who rushed for 326 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
