Basketball Game Preview: Winside Wildcats vs. Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers

The Winside Wildcats and the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Winside is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Homer and fell 64-28. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-9.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Bridget Marotz, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadleigh Schutt, who earned 13 points.

Meanwhile, Newman Grove/St. Edward was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Madison, falling 45-24.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Winside, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
