Baseball Game Preview: Middletown Islanders vs. St. Raphael Academy Saints

The Middletown Islanders will square off against the St. Raphael Academy Saints at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Middletown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: East Greenwich, who was ranked seventh at the time (Middletown was ranked 12th). The Islanders lost 16-4 to the Avengers on Monday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 21, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Middletown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Agren, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Alex Arias also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, St. Raphael Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Chariho, falling 8-2.

Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for St. Raphael Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
