Baseball Recap: Berkeley Triumphs

Berkeley's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Quinton Hill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Berkeley: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 5-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Akanni Owodunni was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Arson Ormsby, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Berkeley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win got Berkeley back to even at 7-7. As for Bishop O'Dowd, they dropped their record down to 7-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Berkeley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dragons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
