Football Game Preview: Los Fresnos Falcons vs. Harlingen Cardinals

Two dominant signal callers in Robert Pineda and Hassan Woolery are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Los Fresnos Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Harlingen Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Fresnos will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Los Fresnos barely beat Veterans Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 30-7 margin over the Chargers on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four games by 23 points or more so far this season.

Los Fresnos didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ryan Prepejchal. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13. Juan Sanchez was another major factor on D, making 21 total tackles.

Harlingen not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since September 27, 2024 (when they won 38-8). They put the hurt on Hanna with a sharp 35-13 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Harlingen's win came from a few key players Los Fresnos will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Maddox Hernandez, who picked up 59 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 59 receiving yards gave him a new career-high.

Los Fresnos' win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Harlingen, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-5.

Los Fresnos took their win against Harlingen in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 36-14 score. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Cardinals' Noah Huerta, who rushed for 75 yards and a pair of TDs.
