Triangle Math & Science Academy's defeat came about despite a quality game from Siddharth Vinod, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Vinod also grabbed six steals, which is notable because the Tigers are 2-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 3-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Franklin Academy beat Vance Charter 63-55 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Triangle Math & Science Academy better focus on containing Hayes Lewis and Jacob Barnes as the pair were huge in Franklin Academy's win. Lewis posted 21 points in addition to six boards and five assists, while Barnes almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Lewis' 15th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Will Mullin, who earned eight points.

Franklin Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Vance Charter's also-impressive total of ten.

Franklin Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Triangle Math & Science Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Triangle Math & Science Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Franklin Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
