Baseball Recap: North Little Rock Comes Up Short

North Little Rock was the 5-4 winner over Little Rock Christian Academy when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Charging Wildcats fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Charging Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Jackson Estes put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Estes wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Higgins, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Khylin Fields also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

North Little Rock's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Little Rock Christian Academy, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.

Coming up, North Little Rock will host Abundant Life at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Little Rock Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Jonesboro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
