Preview: Scott's Branch Eagles vs. Carvers Bay Bears
The Scott's Branch Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Carvers Bay Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Scott's Branch is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Scott's Branch suffered their biggest loss yet this season last Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 44-23 loss at the hands of Orangeburg-Wilkinson. While losing is never fun, Scott's Branch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Orangeburg-Wilkinson is ranked 55th).
Despite the defeat, Scott's Branch had strong showings from Zamaria Lowery, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and two steals, and Ziaier Bryant, who scored no points. That's the first time this season that Lowery grabbed two or more steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Carvers Bay beat Loris 43-37 on Saturday.
K'moni Taylor and Jasmyn Jenkins were among the main playmakers for Carvers Bay as the former scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals and the latter scored 19 points along with five rebounds.
Scott's Branch's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Carvers Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.
Scott's Branch lost to Carvers Bay at home by a decisive 60-46 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Scott's Branch, Liberty Brown (who scored 19 points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
