Softball Recap: Madera Extends Winning Streak to Six

Madera waltzed into their game on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Clovis Cougars get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Coyotes, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Viviana Nombrano's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sadie Gonzalez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Malea Ricks, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Madera hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive matches.

Madera's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Clovis, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Coincidentally, Madera and Clovis will both be playing Garces Memorial the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Rams at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, while the Coyotes will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
