Soccer Game Preview: Steele Canyon vs. Helix

The Steele Canyon Cougars will take on the Helix Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Steele Canyon will be strutting in after a win while Helix will be coming in after a defeat.

Helix will be up against a hot Steele Canyon squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Steele Canyon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Monte Vista on Wednesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cougars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 551st, while the Monarchs are ranked 273rd).

Despite a strong season so far, Helix has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Santana.

Steele Canyon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-8-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matches. As for Helix, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3-2.
