Volleyball Recap: Southwest Florida Christian Comes Up Short

If Southwest Florida Christian was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Seffner Christian on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The King's came up short against the Marco Island Academy Rays on Monday, falling 3-0. The King's were not able to make up for their loss to the Rays from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Southwest Florida Christian took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-17, 25-20.

Journey Cook paced Southwest Florida Christian's offense, picking up ten kills. Cook got some help from Raegan Schenone and her ten assists. Schenone was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Marco Island Academy can attribute much of their success to Sophia Ogdin, who had eight digs and two aces. What's more, Ogdin posted five assists, the most she's had since back in September of 2024.

Southwest Florida Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season. As for Marco Island Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Southwest Florida Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marco Island Academy has already played their next matchup (against Everglades City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
