Softball Recap: East Webster Wins Going Away Against Pontotoc

East Webster won the last time they faced Pontotoc and things went their way on Friday too. The East Webster Wolverines put the hurt on the Pontotoc Warriors with a sharp 8-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Paytan Sanders made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa McCoy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Larkin Conner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

East Webster's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Pontotoc, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.

Coming up, East Webster will take on Itawamba Agricultural in a tournament on Friday. As for Pontotoc, they will be taking part in a tournament against Ethel at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
