Volleyball Recap: Oglethorpe County Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Oglethorpe County lost against Athens Academy back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Patriots took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-19.

Leanna Newton paced Oglethorpe County's offense, picking up ten kills. Newton got some help from Naomi McPeake and her 14 assists.

Oglethorpe County's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Athens Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, Oglethorpe County and Athens Academy will both be playing Eastside the next time they take the court. The Patriots will head out to face the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
