Baseball Game Preview: Rogers Rams vs. Scott Bulldogs

Rogers is 9-1 against Scott since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Rogers has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Rogers turned things around against Waite on Tuesday. They blew past the Indians 22-11.

Dawson Davenport was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Rogers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-13 when he doesn't). Caleb Doering was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Scott had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 33-6 to Rogers back in March. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost eight in a row.

Rogers' victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Scott, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Rogers got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Scott by a conclusive 33-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
