Recap: Atlantis vs. Avon Panthers
This season hasn't been kind to Atlantis, who are still winless after their fifth game. They had to suffer through a rough 55-9 loss at the hands of Avon. Atlantis has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Avon found their leader in underclassman Uwa Idada, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Idada has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hanelie Cadet, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Atlantis' defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Avon, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atlantis won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the at 3:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Avon, they will head out on the road to challenge the Chieftains at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Bristol County Agricultural's defense has only allowed 26.2 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
