Volleyball Recap: McMinn County Comes Up Short

McMinn County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Copper Basin Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cherokees of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2019.

McMinn County started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-13, 25-20.

McMinn County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Copper Basin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Coming up, McMinn County will challenge Rhea County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Copper Basin, they will square off against Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
