Basketball Recap: Seneca Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jack Webb and Chaz Moss

Seneca has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 76-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers on Thursday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Chaz Moss and Jack Webb certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Moss went 5 of 10 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds, while Webb went 6 of 11 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Moss a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clark Finley, who posted eight points.

Blue Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paul Bishop, who had 24 points along with eight assists and six boards. The game was Bishop's third in a row with at least ten points. Trey Bradley was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds.

Seneca's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Blue Ridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-10.

Seneca will head out to face off against Travelers Rest at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Blue Ridge, they will welcome Berea at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Berea's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.
