Football Recap: Shorewood Stormrays vs. Redmond Mustangs
Shorewood took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Redmond Mustangs 51-0. The Stormrays have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.
Shorewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyson Vanee led the charge by throwing for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes, while also rushing for 38 yards. Finn Bachler also helped out with an impressive 80 receiving yards.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Bachler, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Shorewood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jameson Sullivan and Kyson Castellano.
Coming up, Shorewood will venture away from home to challenge Meadowdale at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Stormrays their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Redmond, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cascade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
