 Chesterton was not able to break out of their rough patch  in Saturday's  first game as the team picked up their third straight  loss. Their  rough  8-1 defeat to the Illiana Christian Vikings  might stick with them for a while. Chesterton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Illiana Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in May of 2021.
 For Illiana Christian's part,  Mikayla Derks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one  run (which was  unearned)  on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Derks has been consistent recently: she hasn't  pitched less than seven  innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Alyssa Mulder was a standout: she scored two  runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  Lydia VanderWoude, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 Chesterton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Illiana Christian, the  win for them keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
 The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Chesterton by a score of  11-8 later that day.
