Baseball Recap: Woodbridge Comes Up Short

Woodbridge fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against South River on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 2-1. The Barrons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Woodbridge's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5. As for South River, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-5.

Woodbridge and South River should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Barrons will take on Metuchen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (21 vs. 100). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Woodbridge 3.6, the Bulldogs 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, South River (ranked 113th) will meet Princeton (ranked 253rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
