Just hours after the nation's No. 1 recruit James Wilder Jr. made his choice to Florida State, Steele (Cibolo, Texas) star running back Malcolm Brown has picked Texas.

The San Antonio Express-News reported Brown, the No. 10 recruit in the country according to MaxPreps.com, picked the Longhorns over Alabama.

Brown rushed for more than 2,130 yards and 33 touchdowns last year. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior is considered the most coveted running back Texas has landed since Cedric Benson.

“I was very comfortable up in Austin,” Brown told the Express-News. “The coaches were real down-to-earth, and I know it's the right fit.”

We saw Brown in person during a season opener last year at the Texas Football Classic in the Alamodome. He rushed 13 times for 144 yards and three scores in a 35-14 win over East Central.

He was the best running back I saw in the country last season, and that included Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.) super prep Marcus Lattimore, now at South Carolina. Brown is an absolute load to bring down and can get the edge in a flash.
