Football Preview: Bellefonte Raiders vs. Clearfield Bison
The Bellefonte Raiders will head out to take on the Clearfield Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Saturday, Bellefonte had to suffer through a 41-7 loss at the hands of Bishop Guilfoyle. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-0.
Meanwhile, Clearfield put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Philipsburg-Osceola as Clearfield made off with a 33-7 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.
Brady Collins was a one-man wrecking crew for Clearfield as he rushed for 215 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. Collins' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 117 rushing yards dating back to last season. Carter Freeland was another key player, rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Clearfield was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 439 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Philipsburg-Osceola only gained 201.
Bellefonte's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Clearfield, their record is now 3-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Bellefonte has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 160.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Clearfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 328.7. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
