Basketball Recap: Freedom Comes Up Short

Freedom and Dudley squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Freedom had to settle for second. They fell to the Dudley Panthers 55-50.

When it comes to explaining why Freedom lost, don't look at Peyton Caldwell. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 62% of Freedom's points, marking the eighth time in a row Caldwell has posted more than a third of the team's points. Jenaya Johnson was another key player, putting up five points and six boards.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Dudley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Freedom does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dudley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 65-47 loss against Stuart W. Cramer on the 4th.
