 Plainview was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight  loss. They fell just short of the Singer Hornets by a score of  4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Plainview of the  14-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in March of 2019.
  Caleb Calhoun was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He  struck out 11 batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   ten  hits. Calhoun has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. Calhoun was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 Calhoun wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Brennon Johnson, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-3.
 Plainview now  has a losing record at 8-9. As for Singer, their win  ended  an  eight-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 2-8.
 Plainview is on the road again  on Tuesday to play Fairview. As for Singer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hackberry at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
