Baseball Recap: South Pittsburg Has No Trouble Against Van Buren County

South Pittsburg not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th. They blew past the Van Buren County Eagles 9-1. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Alex Phillips spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Pittsburg is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-13 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jace Stone, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kaden Baker, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

South Pittsburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Van Buren County, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-2.

Looking ahead, South Pittsburg is taking a road trip to take on Silverdale Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Van Buren County, they will challenge Brainerd at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
