Baseball Game Preview: PikeView Panthers vs. James Monroe Mavericks

The PikeView Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the James Monroe Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. PikeView will be strutting in after a victory while James Monroe will be coming in after a defeat.

It was a proper cat-fight when PikeView duked it out with Summers County on Wednesday. PikeView came out on top against Summers County by a score of 5-2. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Braden Huggins, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Eli Naylor was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

James Monroe kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against Alleghany, falling 11-1.

James Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylee Ridgeway, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

PikeView might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from James Monroe in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can PikeView avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
