Basketball Game Preview: Hozho Academy Wolves vs. St. Michael Cardinals

The Hozho Academy Wolves and the St. Michael Cardinals will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Hozho Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Navajo Prep just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a blow against the Eagles, falling 66-35. The matchup marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, St. Michael lost to Hopi on the road by a 68-51 margin on Tuesday. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Hozho Academy will have to contain Logan Terry as he made an impact in St. Michael's last game. He posted 13 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Belgarde, who put up seven points in addition to 18 boards and six blocks.

Hozho Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for St. Michael, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Hozho Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against St. Michael in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
