Basketball Game Preview: Monrovia Wildcats vs. La Canada Spartans

Monrovia hasn't had much luck against La Canada recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Monrovia Wildcats will welcome the La Canada Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Monrovia is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Wednesday. They were dealt a 76-40 loss at the hands of San Marino. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 904th, while the Titans are ranked 368th).

Meanwhile, La Canada was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 63-59 to South Pasadena. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (55), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

Monrovia's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for La Canada, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5.

Monrovia was dealt a bruising 66-37 defeat at the hands of La Canada in their previous meeting on Saturday. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Monrovia was down 39-17.
