Recap: Moffat County Bulldogs vs. Aspen Skiers
The Moffat County Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Aspen Skiers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Moffat County walked away with a 56-45 victory over Aspen on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Moffat County's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Aspen is ranked 43rd).
Ian Champ hafey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Evan Beaver, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Aspen still got an impressive performance from Tommy Franceschi, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Josh Ford was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Aspen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moffat County only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Moffat County's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Aspen, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-2.
Moffat County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Coal Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Coal Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Aspen, they will head out on the road to take on Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aspen is coming into the contest with nine straight defeats on the road, meaning Summit will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
