Basketball Recap: Highland Drops Highest Score of Season Against Weber

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highland). They walked away with an 88-80 win over the Weber Warriors on Friday. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Warriors are ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vai Higby, who went 12 for 16 on his way to 28 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Higby a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Anderton, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 20 points and six boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Highland and bumps their season record up to 8-1. As for Weber, they moved to 7-4 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Highland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-51 win against Pleasant Grove on the 28th. As for Weber, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Field at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weber knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully West Field likes a good challenge.
