Soccer Game Preview: Lakeland Preparatory vs. Memphis Business Academy

Lakeland Preparatory is 0-3 against Memphis Business Academy since April of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions will take on the Execs at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Memphis Business Academy will be up against a hot Lakeland Preparatory team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Lions never let Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Monday. Give Lakeland Preparatory's defense some credit: that's the team's seventh straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Eli Coleman led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Memphis Business Academy made sure to put some goals up on the board against Freedom Prep Academy on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Eagles. Given Memphis Business Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Freedom Prep Academy are ranked 274th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakeland Preparatory pushed their record up to 14-2-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those five contests. As for Memphis Business Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-2-1.

Lakeland Preparatory couldn't quite get it done against Memphis Business Academy in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
